This was a story of the farmer who got his wife. Jake, a county man, off a farm in Caragabal, swept away Francesca, a city girl from Sydney at a mutual friends 21st birthday. They did long distance for the first year of their relationship, and when Francesca finished university she moved to the country. Since then they have bought land and gone into business together.
Their wedding truly encapsulated the city meets country. Their readings focused on the land, the groomsmen all wore their akubras’, the bridesmaids all had wheat in their bouquets, the candles (used in the ceremony and as favours) were made by a local lady from the neighbouring village of Quandialla and the table decorations were jars of “home grown” seed, wheat and wool. They followed up official celebrations with a country party the next weekend.
